ALTA is going to AWP22!

ALTA is going to the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) conference! The AWP22 conference will take place March 23-26, 2022, in Philadelphia, PA. Find out more on AWP’s website, and visit ALTA at booth T848!

Bookfair Bingo
ALTA partners with a rotating group of translation presses to put on a wildly popular game called Bookfair Bingo! Bookfair Bingo encourages attendees to visit the booths of participating publishers of translation, in exchange for a chance to win free books in daily raffles at ALTA’s booth (T848). ALTA values its relationships with presses, which do the work of sharing our members’ translations with readers.

ALTA-Sponsored Events
As part of our literary partnership with AWP, ALTA is excited to host three panels at AWP22: “Voices of Exile: Translating a Lost Homeland,” “Crossing Languages: From First Draft to Publication,” and “Translation: The Alternative MFA.” We are also hosting an offsite translator meetup! Find descriptions, times, and room locations here.

Member Books on Display at AWP22
ALTA will happily display recent books translated by ALTA members at our booth (T848). There is a maximum of 3 titles per member. ALTA staff cannot transport books to AWP, so members must bring them in person to our booth. Books are for display only; ALTA cannot handle any sales at AWP. Books must be dropped off no later than 10:00am on the first day of the bookfair (Thursday, March 24) and picked up no later than 4:00pm on the last day (Saturday, March 26). Unclaimed books will be donated. We look forward to showing off your work!

We are looking forward to seeing you at AWP22. Be sure to stop by and say hello to us at booth T848!
