American Literary Translators Association to Receive $50,000 Grant from Academy of American Poets

Tucson, AZ—The American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) has been approved for a $50,000 Capacity-Building Grant from the Academy of American Poets to support a redesign of the current ALTA website, which has long been a goal for ALTA’s Board, staff, and constituents.

Recognizing that literary nonprofit organizations need to address sustainability, the Academy of American Poets offers this special Capacity Building Program that will award funds over two years in grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 to support projects that build organizational capacity. The Capacity-Building Grants Program is made possible by a special gift from the Hawthornden Fund, established by the Drue Heinz estate. For more information, visit the Grants Program webpage.

“We are incredibly grateful to receive funding from the Academy of American Poets for this long-awaited project,” said ALTA Executive Director Elisabeth Jaquette. “This crucial support will help us create a website that provides a clean reading experience for the ALTA community, with a clear search function, easy navigation to information, videos, and databases, and expanded accessibility features. This grant will enable us to make the ALTA website available to a wider audience than ever before.”
